The Heart Project - Contracted Developer
📅November 2021 - present
MongoDB
NextJS
Python
Ethereum
Provided full stack development work for The Heart Project as well as a number of other child and sister projects. Responsibilities involved managing a small development team at times as well as producing websites for the minting and staking of NFT's. The websites had to be designed extremely in line with the creatives vision as the art is primary focus of the project. One particularly bespoke project was the token gating of exclusive merchandise on a webstore, a security problem that many still have issues with today. Security in web3 is a challenge that is far greater than traditional sales, every project and contract launched through The Heart Project was never found to have any vulnerability.

Volunteering
Since April 2018 I have run multiple fundraising events through many social media. I have a niche following of people interested in high-end streetwear and sneakers and I use this to raise money for those less fortunate. The charities that I have raised money for include: Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, Cancer Research UK, Mental Health UK and YoungMinds. By May 2019 we raised over $75,000.

This was a high speed project with a very short deadline. The premise of the site is a platform where the owner 'Kenny Beats' is able to start a beat battle. He uploads a sample piece of music and his Twitch.tv subscribers are able to upload their submission and interpretation of the challenge. Once the battle is over, the annonymous voting process begins for a period of time specified by an admin. Finally, after voting the battle is placed in the archives, once the battle is in the archive only the site admin is able to update and alter the rankings and bypass the number of votes. The was an enjoyable project to work on, it was written in NextJS, users were authenticated through roles in Discord, the site was deployed via Vercel and the database was hosted using MongoDB. The site successfully handled 200,000 requests within the first week with a 0% error rate.

Over one week working with multiple different teams in the bespoke technology company, Mercury Tide, I learnt the process from; receiving a specification from a client all the way to completing and maintaining the product. Due to the small nature of the firm I gathered the skill of being able to work independently but also fulfilling my responsibility as well as helping other jobs easier.

📅Jul 2016

During the summer of 2016 I spent a week with Skyscanner and one of their teams. Throughout the week, I experienced how to plan effectively and realistically to get the most to the highest standard. I worked on web design aspects as well as creating a new mock interactive page for their flight comparison site. This week taught me how to work in a team, as each team works on a different part of the site as well as how to work individually as in the team everyone focuses on unique features.
